Mathematics
Mathematics is also taught beginning in Junior Kindergarten One. Children learn shapes, colors, numbers, and concepts such as quantity, space and measurement.

As with all of our lessons, children learn through a fun introduction to the concept, different cefa™ games, Montessori games and other material designed to help them problem-solve, reason, understand, and take a very proactive approach to learning in general, and in this case, to mathematics.

Formal worksheets are also introduced, and in Junior Kindergarten Three, children work on their Mathquest book, some at a kindergarten level, others with the Grade One Mathquest book and even the Grade Two book in some cases. Children learn to add, subtract, divide and multiply, deduct the answers to mathematical problems, and work with concepts as advanced as fractions.

Children are encouraged to problem-solve and to explore different concepts, but never are they asked to work above their capacity or interest level.
Some children naturally develop further in some areas, and our Teachers follow your child's lead by offering each student the individual level of challenge that the child requires to feel stimulated.
The reasoning behind allowing our students to explore concepts that are far beyond kindergarten expectations, is that we follow the child's lead. Where the child finds stimulation and interest is where we work.
